Phelicia’s Boudoir Empowerment Session / McKinney, TX / Boudoir by Erin
I had been trying for a little over 5 years to have portraits of myself done and every year over the past 5 years for one reason or another I have managed to talk myself out of it.“You have better things to spend money on than this for yourself that are more important”“You really should lose some weight so that you will look better and make people turn heads” “You just really do not have the confidence to pull this kind of photos off” Those are just a few mean things I’d tell myself. Iv been threw many tough situations in my 35yrs of life that have taken my confidence to a low level.
About 1 1/2 ago it just clicked that I am raising 2 people young women to be their strong beautiful selves no matter what life throws at them so now it was time for me to show them just how beautiful their mother is. They need to see me beautifully strong so I did it. I am beautiful and I am strong and after my session with Erin and Jamie I feel like a true beast!
This was a suprise photo shoot for my baby sister! We did it together as single shoots on same day! The best day of my life and made me the best big sister ever that day.
How did you first hear about Boudoir by Erin?
Lots of research! Found Erin on google and then on Facebook.
Why did you decide to book a boudoir session? What made you go for it?
In 2019 in October I had reached out to Erin and she immediately responded back and she made time out of her day to call me and answer questions I had. She wasn’t pushy and didn’t rush me to set anything up.
Took a year for me to finally get back with her and set up the session and was more than willing to help me go the extra mile to set up a suprise for my baby sisters 25th birthday! Erin made the whole surprise come to life even before we arrived.
What did you think boudoir was before hearing of Boudoir by Erin?
Honestly thought it was naked sexy photos.
Did you have any obstacles or fears about doing a boudoir session?
I feared I wouldn’t be able to be sexy enough to pull off this kind of photo shoot. I have a Tummy from having 4 children and it’s a big insecurity for me.
How did you feel leading up to the morning of your session?
Nervous. Excited because I was getting to do something Iv always wanted and getting to suprise my sister.
What was your first impression when you arrived at the studio?
I had actually toured Erin’s old studio so it was really neat to see new set ups. It was cozy and home like feeling.
What did you think of your hair & makeup?
It was very much bold and out of my comfort zone and I absolutely loved and enjoyed the special treatment feeling for the day. Wine, water, robe and no bra! YAY!
Did you have any thoughts during your session?
“Am I doing this right”
“Does my face look funny”
“Am I popping my booty enough”
Very much funny thoughts going around in my big head during those moments.
How did you feel leaving the studio after your session and viewing your images?
EXCITED! Very confident! Couldn’t wait to be able to show them off. Oh did I mention I didn’t tell my husband or anyone what we were doing that day?!?
If you ask Erin I didn’t have an kind of emotion because to be honest I was speakless because I had never seen myself look this amazing. It was like a light bulb flicker on that day. Now I think I’m obsessed!
What products did you purchase?
6x8 black photo album, 2- 8x10 and 2- 5x7 of just mine and then the same for my sisters set.
Did anything surprise you?
I was suprised at how relaxed I was talking to Erin and Jamie threw it all. I expected to be tense and not relaxed. I had prepared myself to be ready to go. But definitely was not the way I was feeling.
What would your advice be to other women who haven’t booked a boudoir session?
Do it! Add it to your bucket list and do it now!
Send Erin a message! She will walk you threw step by step! Hell! Just book a time to go walk the studio. I promise you will make a connection of a life time with just 1 conversation!
I can’t say this enough just take the step and have the conversation. You do not need a man or women or significant other of any kind to do this photo session! Do it for you! Show yourself just how amazing you are!
Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty/sexuality/sensuality/body confidence as a result of this session?
I got to see myself in a different light. You can look at yourself in the mirror all day long and never see yourself in the light that someone else sees you in. I felt hella confident In my own skin. That feeling has definitely lingered!
Why would you suggest someone else book a session with Boudoir by Erin?
It is very exciting. Man or women it gives you the opportunity to be yourself and feel amazing in your own skin.
What would you say to people who say they can’t do a boudoir session because they are too shy, nervous, etc?
If your nervous about doing it alone drag a friend along and have them do it with you! Make them go first and maybe you will get to hear things like I did.
My sister and Erin were in a room while I was gettting makeup done and me and Jamie heard a thud. Thought for sure my sister tried to do a hand stand. Turns out she was just walking accross floor! 🤣😂
Anything else you would like to share?
Life is amazing and you should always live it! I promise you won’t regret working with Erin and Jamie even if you only do it once. It is a very fun enlightening experience! They make you love yourself threw your own eyes!
I’m sure you will do it more than once though! You kinda become obsessed with yourself.
