Ms T’s Boudoir Empowerment Session / McKinney, TX / Boudoir by Erin
Thank you so much for the amazing images! This was a truly bucket list item for me. The Halloween pictures were everything I imagined and more.
How did you first hear about Boudoir by Erin?
I found Erin about a year ago when searching and researching boudoir photographers as I had hoped to do this as a 45th birthday gift to myself (which I did!!! And this was my second session).
Why did you decide to book a boudoir session? What made you go for it?
So I booked my first to memorialize my 45th birthday and the journey I have been on to re-discover myself without the additional titles of mom, career woman, etc. The first session was all about me as a woman and loving myself in the rawest of versions.
This second session was all about the Halloween vibes and capturing my love for the season and my continued journey of learning to love myself.
What did you think boudoir was before hearing of Boudoir by Erin?
I first heard about boudoir photography about 5-6 years ago and initially was put off by it, I think mainly because I believed that was only for thin, perfectly manicured women.
Did you have any obstacles or fears about doing a boudoir session?
Prior to my first session, some of my major fears were if I was crazy to be doing this at my age and my size. As a plus-sized woman, I have often struggled with giving myself permission to enjoy activities that the media has convinced us were for only thin women.
How did you feel leading up to the morning of your session?
Prior to the morning of my first session, I had already typed the cancellation email like 300 times. I had a continuously nagging voice that this was silly and not for a plus-sized woman over 40.
Preparing for my second session, I was so anxious and completely looking forward to just enjoying the experience of the make-up and hair and the amazing time with Erin and her team as they completely make you feel amazing about yourself.
What did you think of your hair & makeup?
Jaimee is absolutely amazing! She took my vision for this Halloween shoot and brought it to absolute life!!!!
Did you have any thoughts during your session?
I had the most amazing time. Erin is amazing at putting you at ease. So I truly never felt uncomfortable being in my most natural and vulnerable state with her!
How did you feel leaving the studio after your session and viewing your images?
My poor husband probably had to listen to me go on and on about my session for days! I was soo excited to share with him all the details of my experience as well as excited to show him the images.
What products did you purchase?
I purchased the Halloween session plus 10 additional images (because you just can't narrow down the pictures because all the pictures Erin takes are amazing!)
Did anything surprise you?
I think I was really surprised that even though I knew how the process would go and Erin's style of photography, etc... how exciting and new it still felt even though I had done a session previously.
What would your advice be to other women who haven’t booked a boudoir session?
Do it! I tell all my girlfriends on a regular basis that they should do it. That it's not just about the pictures, it's about the feeling it provides of how Erin and her team make you feel absolutely amazing and beautiful. And as women, we can never be reminded enough of our value and our beauty, inside and out.
Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty/sexuality/sensuality/body confidence as a result of this session?
I have struggled with body image since I was a kid. As a survivor of sexual abuse, this problem was compounded for me. After my session I found myself focusing less on trying to constantly change myself and more on embracing the beauty I already possess. I was less critical of what I saw as flaws in myself and embraced my strengths instead.
Why would you suggest someone else book a session with Boudoir by Erin?
Erin is absolutely amazing. She will put you at ease and help you see the beautiful woman you are without the judgements placed on us by media and society.
What would you say to people who say they can’t do a boudoir session because they are too shy, nervous, etc?
ANYONE can do boudoir. I am even trying to encourage my husband to do a session. He often states that he can't do it until he loses more weight, builds more muscle mass, and has a million other excuses. Boudoir is about capturing the beauty of who you are right now in this moment and there will never be a more perfect time.

I am so grateful to Erin and her team for the amazing experience and look forward to capturing more moments of beauty with them in the future.
